I am hopelessly in love with my husband. Seriously. Sometimes people laugh at us. We have been together for nearly 17 years and our dating life had our families concerned (for good reason) about the viability of our nuptials. But – we truly are best friends and our marriage is my favorite!
Austin (20), Alexa (11) and Nixon (8) are God’s greatest blessings to me. One of the things I am most excited about sharing with you, is the wondrous gifts that are my children.
I grew up on a farm. My whole life I hated it and couldn’t wait to move to the city. While I am a city girl at heart, as I have gotten older, I have learned to love and appreciate the things that farm life, deeply connected family, and community, have taught me.
Coffee, chocolate and wine do nothing for me. Chai lattes and Dr. Pepper however, are the things that get me through. At this point in my life I am a “2 chai a day-er” (7:30am and 3:00pm coinciding with journal time) and I have a Dr. Pepper every day at 10:30am. I have just decided to be ok with the dependencies …and that I don’t like wine.
I am a rule follower. Until I am not. Then I usually break the rules in a big way. *More on this to come throughout my blogging adventure.
I meet people in the strangest of manners and in the strangest of places! In fact, you may be one of them! Strangers become friends quickly and it is one faucet of my life that I really dig. I love stories and I love people. I can’t wait to share both with you.
These 3 things have the ability to alter the course of my whole day. A 30 minute walk, a 30 minute journal session with God and a 3 minute set of intentions (3 things I am proud of myself for, 3 things I forgive myself for, 3 things I commit to myself). I do these #everydamnday. They are my daily game changers.
Love, Layna is the brainchild of 3 of my very best friends. Ashley, Reva and Sarah. In fact, the Love, Layna name is all Reva. They know me better, love me deeper, and see me clearer than most. I am free to be open, honest, flawed vulnerable, and lovable with them. Sometimes all at the same time! They are the reason I am sharing my life with you in this way. These three women are powerhouses in their own right, and together they are like pure magic.
I am not a brand snob in general, but when it comes to jeans and purses I most definitely am. I only carry designer handbags. Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Tory Burch. I started my love affair with designer jeans when I read that Cameron Diaz favored Seven For All Mankind jeans (many, many years ago). I went to the ends of the earth (and bottom of my piggy bank) to get a pair and my life was changed. My current favs are AG & Mother. A good pair of jeans is worth the investment. And a hot purse who can deny?!?!
“Loving” is a word I hear others use to describe me often. But this has not been the case for most of my life. It is only in the last few years that I have been on a journey of learning that there is lots to love about me and have been finding my way to loving myself. I have also been learning that it is from this place, that I am able to share my excess love with the world around me. It is through this process that I find the very truest form of myself.
